God’s Trees: Trees, Forests and Wood in the Bible: An Illustrated Commentary and Compendium is unavailable, but you can change that!

This unique work focuses on trees, forests, and wood in the Bible and how they were used. Julian Evans’ book is richly illustrated with color photographs and original artwork. Evans writes in the style of a commentary, and includes a compendium providing additional details.

The reference to plane trees (Ezek. 31:8) is only the second time in the Old Testament that the species occurs (see Gen. 30:37), and is the Oriental plane. It is probably one of the ‘parents’ that created the famous hybrid ‘London Plane’; the other parent is the American plane (Platanus occidentalis). Oriental planes are common in towns and cities of the Mediterranean, grow large and are long-lived, but clearly never the equal of cedar of Lebanon as Ezekiel makes clear!
